
Manager Financial Accounting & Reporting Policies
Your job responsibilities at a glance
As a manager, you are responsible for the leadership, operational control and further development of the specialists in your team. With the support of your team, you will develop and maintain the Bank’s internal accounting policies and procedures. This includes reviewing and updating existing policies, developing new policies in response to constant changes to International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), and ensuring that policies are communicated to and understood by all employees.
You will also provide internal advice on financial accounting matters. This comprises providing guidance on accounting standards, interpreting accounting rules, resolving accounting issues and evaluating accounting alternatives. Regular interactions with key stakeholders are crucial and include internally mainly ExCo and ExCo-1, and externally other specialist groups in NVB, ECB or IASB – in response to upcoming conceptual framework changes or new standard requirements.
Your responsibilities will also include ensuring that ExCo and senior management remains up to date with IFRS and regulatory changes that have a significant impact on the bank in their area of expertise. To accomplish this, you must be on the leading edge of knowledge in your area of expertise. Oversight and ongoing development of staff is an essential part of the job in order to ensure the Bank has the expertise and resources it needs now and in the future.

About the team
In the CFO area of the bank, the ‘Financial Accounting & Reporting Policies – EC Finance’ department is embedded alongside other important departments such as Financial Data & Reporting, Balance Sheet Management, Financial Markets & Treasury and Investor Relations. The Manager of Financial Accounting & Reporting Policies reports directly to the Group CFO. Your team currently consists of seven highly qualified and passionate specialists. Individual team members know how to bring out the best in each other and are good at putting things in perspective. The team's core mentality is to deliver results and enjoy sharing experiences, but also have fun.

You are strong in content and understand how to translate complex issues into manageable information for the rest of the organization. You are critical, persistent and stick to deadlines. In addition, you are open and transparent and have a strong organizational awareness. You take the initiative, develop ideas and solutions. You bring people together, enable and want to work towards continuous improvement, be it your own team or the relationship with all the teams you work with.
Your qualifications:
- You are a Chartered Financial Accountant (CFA), have a Master’s degree in Financial Accounting or an equivalent CA designation
- You have a proven professional track record of more than 15 years in a comparable role with managerial responsibility (preferably in another bank or big 4 audit firm)
- Profound technical expertise in International Financial Accounting Standards (IFRS)
- You have in-depth knowledge of core products/services of the financial services industry (banking and capital markets)
- You are experienced in researching and developing policies, providing practical guidance, running internal governance processes for decision making
- You have strong communication skills; Ability to write clear and concise memos, presentations and letters tailored to specific audiences with various needs
- Ability to develop strong working relationships with other groups across the Bank
- Strong supervisory skills and ability to develop staff
- You are fluent in spoken and written English (and Dutch)
